Water testing was done by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality in 1981 and 1996.  
MIDEQ WATER TEST DATA
In 2007 the Michigan Department of Natural Resources conducted a fish study.  They collected data on the fish and other amphibian life at Three Mile Lake.  Other information included in this study were:
soil composition, lake levels, water depths, watershed and residential density.  On August 15, 2006 the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality did a water quality sampling and that data is also
included.
2007 MIDNR FISH STUDY
Three Mile and Little Three Mile Lakes are located in the north basin; Paw Paw Township, section 21, major basin is Lake Michigan, minor basin is
St. Joseph River.
