Mearl Frederick Hunt age 86, of Paw Paw passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, Michigan. Mearl was born March 9, 1932 in Watervliet, Michigan the son of Donald and Margaret (Wood) Hunt. Mearl proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to the former Pauline Weaver on February 25, 1989 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mearl was a member of the American Legion, McGowen Johnson and VFW. Post 68. He enjoyed bowling, driving his boat around 3 Mile Lake, gardening and being outdoors.
Mearl is survived by his loving wife of 29 years; Pauline, 3 daughters; Debra (Charles) Byars, Kathy (Richard) White and Sandy (Bill) Main, step-daughter; Tami (Gary) Newton, step-son; Randy (Laura) Newton, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mearl was preceded in death by his step-son; Herbert Newton, sisters; Sally, Dorothy and Georgia and brothers; Don, Jerry and Jim.
Memorial Mass will take place Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Paw Paw, with Fr. Joseph Xavier officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider the American Legion, McGowen Johnson Post 68, Paw Paw.
